Who Gets the Yarn?
The votes are in! Great Gran has drawn a winner! Tune in tomorrow to see who won the coveted Lorna’s Laces.
By way of a Complex Point System that took into account creativity, humor and desperation, M has narrowed the field in the essay portion of this contest.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the Three Finalists!
Liesl:
Vera is calling.
I can’t say no; already
she has ruined me.
Lorraine:
I’ve never even touched the fabled Shepherd Sock, and grow green with envy watching the world knit its wooly goodness.
Rachel:
Lorna’s Laces should be free because: Air, water, and all the OTHER things absolutely necessary for survival are free.

Very cool! I hope the candidate I voted for wins since she has requested one of my fave colorways. Yay for a very cool contest Em!

Liesl, you won’t be surprised to know I voted for myself, but I wanted to tell you that you have may favorite girl’s name ever. Not that that’s remotely related to the matter at hand.

Definitely Rachel. Not so much because her essay was superior, but that she gave voice to the true sock yarn addicts creed!

What sock knitter isn’t an addict? heh I wish we could eat and breathe sock yarn - oh how heavenly. I picked Liesl. “already she has ruined me.” heh oh the lust.

This is so fun! I feel like part of a real community with this poll and the insuing discussion/comments here, silly as that may seem. Thanks for letting me be part of it all. And thanks for the name compliment, Lorraine. Rachel, I think your entry captured the true obsessive nature of knitting. In fact, I was inspired to write another haiku last night (ok, maybe it was just the caffeine keeping me up):
If yarn grew on trees,
I would nest in their branches:
the first knitting bird.
Cheers!
