Here's an odd thing: when you download the patterns that are pdfs, they look "furry" on the screen but print very cleanly. I don't know why.

The basic sock patterns can be "fancied up" easily by applying a stitch pattern to the leg. Just do a tiny bit of math to be sure your chosen stitch pattern fits neatly into the number of stitches in the leg.

I've also made a pattern for an 18" Doll Cardigan in html format. You can find it here.

Emily's Basic Circular Socks (PDF icon 71K)
This is a very spelled out sock pattern - I've even got the heel turned to the last row. Great for beginning sock knitters (or folks who are just starting on circular needles), this is the pattern used for most of the Sock Frenzy of 2003. Great Gran likes to use US size 5s on these, but I prefer a tighter sock so I tend towards US 3s. Obviously, you can use any yarn that fits the gauge (sport weight)- don't feel tied to Fixation.

Wool-Ease Basic Socks (PDF
icon 63K)
This is my basic sock pattern for four needles. I have made Michael a couple dozen pairs from it by changing the stitch pattern on the legs. I have made myself several pairs as well - mostly striped ones out of M's sock leftovers. Any worsted weight yarn will work for these socks.

Snug (PDF icon 38K)
This is my favorite afghan to knit. This pattern started as repair work on a very very broken pattern that I found in one of Great Gran's books. By the time I was finished fixing it, I had a whole new afghan!

Fund-Raiser Hat and Scarf (html)
Looking for something to make for your Church Bazaar? Or the Auction at the Senior Citizen's Center? Look no further. This is an elegant Hat and Scarf set that comes complete with permission to donate for sale to a Worthy Cause. (picture)

Haystack (html)
This is a great pattern for a difficult variegated yarn (ie the colors pool funny) but it is not a sock for beginners! You should have a little experience with patterned sock legs (or want some) before committing to this pattern. It is designed for fingering weight yarns. (picture)

Squall (PDF icon 38K)
These socks were created for the Hurricane Sock Swap of 2006. They are designed to fit an average woman's foot and have an insanely tiny gauge (9sts to 1"), but are completely worth the agony. In my opinion.

Wheat (PDF icon 38K)
Socks for football season and other Fall Occasions. This as a man's sock (10.5" circumference foot) with a simple but effective slipped stitch pattern on the leg. (picture)

Wee Tiny Sock (html)
This little sock was created for the Wee Tiny Sock Swap of 2007. (picture)
